I was born and grew up in Africa. This magical continent was the perfect backdrop to visually stimulate and nurture an already creative mind. Travelling the world further enriched my ideas and dreams.
My career in Advertising and Design and working for key Agencies based in Cape Town and London meant that I was always on the hunt for new and creative projects. I strongly believe in a path of continual learning and as such I am always taking courses to either upskill or learn something completely new. To date I have done clay sculpture, pottery, jewellery making, bookbinding, knitting, Screen Printing, a Shibori dye course and Zero Waste sewing as well as a variety of online courses in sketching, painting, collage and weaving. I love experimenting with what I have learnt and enjoy combining techniques from different disciplines to create surface patterns. I wanted to bring something bold, unique with a versatile aesthetic to the market. I am working towards my 10 000 hours to achieve this and having lots of fun along the way. I now live in New Zealand, another visually rich environment from which to draw my inspiration. My work is a combination of sketching, painting and digitizing my images. Screen Printing provides another outlet for me and I love it for the hands on approach to design. I have produced a small homewares linen range using this technique and hope to expand this over time. I thoroughly enjoy being a part of a process from beginning to end. So I find a great deal of pleasure in coming up with the initial idea, sketching, painting, printing and then making a final product. |
